Change the 'manager' user.

Change the 'manager' user.

Currently, Zephyr only allows you to change the 'manager' to another user by creating a new user.

If you change the user name in the 'manager' field to an existing user, we get an error that the user already exists.

We'd like to be able to change this to an existing user as this more easily accommodates staff changes.

Hi Andrew,

If I understand you correctly, you would like to take a pre-existing user like a person who is identified a test lead and then "promote" them to the overall test manager.

Yes, user names need to be unique in the database, so that in login Zephyr gains your correct identify.

If you first rename the test lead-level user to different user name you can then rename the test manager to that promoted test lead.

Kind Regards,
Chris

HI Chris,

The problem with re-naming, is that is that one persons previous work becomes another persons work.

The issue I have here, is that when we performed our Zephyr Trial I created myself as the "Test Manager" while performing the trial (I'm actually a lead, but since we had only a limited number of trial licences and I was managing the trial it made sense).

Now that we've purchased, i'd like to move myself into a fully permissions 'lead' role, and transfer the 'Administrator' position to my manager.

But If I do as you've suggested, then everything I've done up until this point then gets listed under my managers name and not my own. Since you're indexing and referencing users by the ID and not their user name (which is changeable)?

<<Update>>
Yep, I've swapped the user names as you've suggested and now everything I've done has my Managers name associated to it.

Andrew,

I can certainly pass this along to the development team for possible inclusion to a future release.
